To my work coach -
Please note the following for your records.
1) I have been continuing to gain skills + qualifications throughout my period of unemployment - unaided and unfunded. See evidence below.
2) I have been diagnosed with a rare back condition that can return called Cauda Equina for which I had an operation.
Cauda equina syndrome (CES) is a rare but serious condition that affects the bundle of nerve roots at the lower end of the spinal cord. - online description.
3) My surgery in Feb 2023 was to save me from becoming severely paralysed as well as to alleviate the extreme pain I was in for over a month - until re-assessed by doctor.
My call to the doctor on that Friday proved to be timely. As I had been suffering severe trauma when standing and sitting down - hence me calling my doctor and the doctor subsequently sending me to the hospital for an urgent scan. Note this is a Friday 10am morning call and attend hospital Friday 2pm afternoon - Seen by specialist 10:30pm Friday Night - Operated on 9am Saturday morning.
Upon seeing me in the night the physician told me he needed to operate on me in the following morning - Any delay would increase my chance of becoming paralysed. - The Health assessor has access all my medical records and confirms with clinicians reports\records.
I do not think the DWP work coach is qualified to assess nor judge my condition.
4) I am under treatment from Kings College Neurological department for a condition known as Cluster headaches (dubbed the suicide headache for their intenseness and severity). The Neurologist and I had a meeting this year - June. I was told the only treatment for my condition are injections. One in the back of the skull which is claimed to give relief for 3 months - not a guarantee. The second involves me carry around needles which I will have to inject into my thigh on the onset of a headache. Please note the word headache is misleading with this condition as this pain targets 1 area specifically (common symptom) - My left eye - The pain intensity increases rapidly and in under a minute I would have to "down tools" and rush to the items I currently use for relief - A cold flannel placed over the eye. Ibuprofen tablets. Then I am at the mercy of the pain.. As to how long it will last and how intense it will get. I do not suffer from headaches. Normal headaches do not wake you up repeatedly at 4am with an intense pain in your eye that you have to attend to immediately. Nor have you clutching at your eye due to the pressure being overwhelming.
That being said the current solution was not claimed to be a) permanent b) reliable c) a fix. It is what some have said gives them relief and is "experimental". I am unable to "predict" when these headaches come - Studies show the symptoms are known but causes are not. There are other treatments being tested like oxygen tanks.
Again I do not think my work coach is able or qualified to assess or judge my condition.
5) I have been having issues with my gut - severe cramps and feeling weak and tired more. I also saw blood in my stools and have had to provided multiple samples and had a colonoscopy recently which found mild bowel inflammation, something like IBS. This has not been treated and is ongoing over 2 months now.
This affects my daily routines - Which are increasing set by my health needs.
This is not something I have a choice in complying with nor should be treated as a non-compliance matter.
